Review: Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips Talk Lipstick in BE104

If there's one asian brand that I've wanted to delve into it's Etude House. Every time I watch an 'asian beauty haul' video posted by a YouTuber I instantly turn green with envy as the packaging cuteness is 100/10 and the products look immaculate. Lucky for me I was able to pick up a few Etude House goodies when I travelled to Thailand last year, one of which was the Dear My Blooming Lips-Talk lipstick, which undoubtedly has one of the most adorable packaging I've ever laid eyes on.

I bought all the Etude House products on a whim as I didn't think to research what the most popular products were whilst I had internet access at hotel so I grabbed whatever looked the most useful (ahem.. most cute). I didn't want to go overboard with the makeup shopping so I limited myself to one lipstick and I'm actually quite pleased with my choice. I mean just check out the detailing embedded in the lipstick - before even testing it I'm already sold.

The actually packaging of the lipstick can come across as over-the-top girly but coming from me, the most un-girly person, I don't mind it. I think it's nice to have a little variety in your collection, especially if your collection consists of all black uniform brands.

I purchased the shade in BE104  which, according to my research, means that Etude House classifies this as a beige tone. I originally thought it was a deep plum shade (damn those florescent lights), but it leans more of a pink beige almost mauve like. Which is definitely up my alley as I can wear it everyday without looking like I'm trying too hard.

I am very impressed with the opacity of this lipstick, with one swipe your lips are fully covered. The texture of the lipstick is quite creamy, it sits very comfortably and almost nourishing on the lips for the first couple of hours, however it slowly fades away during the day to accentuate all the creases/flakes on your lips. Therefore it's definitely best to exfoliate beforehand, and to remove/reapply every couple of hours.

Because Dear My Blooming Lips Talk lipstick is on the thicker, creamier side of things it doesn't slip and slide around your mouth. You could possibly get away with wearing with for 5 hours (without eating/drinking) but as I mentioned before it will start to dry after the first 2-3 hours.

Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed despite the inevitable dryness that occurs. This has become one of my go-to lipsticks as the shade is just so wearable and it sits so comfortably on the lips for the first initial hours.

What lipstick shade have you been loving lately?

  2. This looks like a really beautiful, everyday shade! The formula sounds pretty decent, and the packaging is adorable! I remember swatching these while I was in HK, I did like the look of them but I told myself I didn't need any more lipsticks! Semi regretting that now...
